Meet the Team
For more than two decades, HGWI has been built by investigators, researchers, historians, and volunteers dedicated to helping people, preserving history, and seeking answers to unexplained experiences.
Meet the people who continue that mission today.
Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation is made up of individuals from many different backgrounds who share a common goal: helping people, preserving history, and seeking answers to unexplained experiences.
Our members include professionals from a variety of fields including management, information technology, education, construction, historical research, public service, ministry, business ownership, and community leadership. Each member brings unique skills and perspectives that strengthen our investigations and our ability to assist clients.
While equipment and technology play an important role in modern investigations, HGWI believes that experience, historical research, careful documentation, and compassionate client interaction remain the foundation of every successful case.

All investigations conducted under the name of Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation are supervised by experienced team leadership and follow established investigation and documentation standards.
Meet the Team: Leadership
Kevin Fike
Founder & Director
Kevin Fike founded Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation in 2004 with the goal of helping individuals experiencing unexplained activity while preserving the history connected to the locations involved.
Over the years, Kevin has overseen more than 500 investigations involving private residences, businesses, historic landmarks, museums, cemeteries, and nationally recognized paranormal locations throughout the southeastern United States.
His passion for historical research and documentation continues to shape the mission and direction of HGWI today.
Cecil Fike
Senior Investigator Emeritus
Cecil has been part of Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation since its earliest years and has participated in investigations ranging from private residences to some of the nation’s most recognized paranormal locations, including Waverly Hills Sanatorium, the USS North Carolina, and Willard Library.
Now in his nineties, Cecil remains an important part of the HGWI family and continues to attend investigations whenever his schedule and health allow. His decades of life experience, steady perspective, and encouragement have helped shape both the organization and many of the investigators who have been part of it over the years.
While he may not travel to every investigation today, his influence can still be found throughout HGWI and the values that continue to guide our work.
Wendell Whitfield
Senior Investigator • Case Management
Wendell Whitfield serves as HGWI’s Case Manager and is one of the organization’s most experienced investigators. His extensive leadership background, practical problem-solving skills, and years of investigative experience have made him an invaluable part of the team.
As Case Manager, Wendell is often the first point of contact for clients after a request is submitted. He assists with case review, client interviews, investigation planning, and ongoing communication throughout the investigative process. His calm and professional approach helps ensure that every client is treated with respect, compassion, and understanding.
In addition to his investigative responsibilities, Wendell brings decades of experience in construction, HVAC, and property maintenance. His knowledge of building systems and environmental factors frequently helps identify potential natural explanations for reported activity, allowing HGWI to approach each case with a balanced and objective perspective.
Wendell’s commitment to helping people, combined with his practical expertise and leadership, has made him one of the cornerstones of Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation.
Amy Hill
Senior Investigator • Communications
Amy Hill oversees communications and public outreach for Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation. She assists with managing HGWI’s social media presence, public engagement, and organizational communications while helping share the mission and activities of the group with the broader community.
Amy also plays an important role in investigation planning and coordination, helping establish relationships with well-known historic and paranormal locations throughout the country. Her efforts have assisted HGWI in arranging investigations at notable sites and maintaining connections within the paranormal community.
In addition to her work with HGWI, Amy co-hosts the Wicked Paranormal radio show alongside Kevin Fike, where they discuss paranormal topics, historic locations, investigations, and experiences from the field.
Through her work in communications, media, and location coordination, Amy helps HGWI continue its mission of helping people, preserving history, and seeking answers with integrity.
James Mathis
Senior Investigator • Investigation Technology Specialist
James Mathis serves as a Senior Investigator and Investigation Technology Specialist for Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation. His experience in both field investigations and investigative technology helps ensure that evidence is collected, documented, and reviewed using a consistent and methodical approach.
James assists with equipment deployment, technical operations, evidence collection, and investigative support during both private and public investigations. His attention to detail and commitment to proper documentation have made him a valuable member of the HGWI team.
Whether assisting with field operations or helping evaluate potential evidence, James plays an important role in supporting HGWI’s mission of helping people, preserving history, and seeking answers with integrity.
Jessie Carey
Senior Investigator • Administrative Coordinator
Jessie Carey serves as a Senior Investigator and Administrative Coordinator for Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation. In addition to assisting with investigations and organizational support, Jessie has long been interested in the role that personal experiences and intuitive impressions may play in understanding reported paranormal activity.
While HGWI approaches every investigation through documentation, historical research, witness interviews, and evidence collection, Jessie provides a perspective that can help investigators consider aspects of a case that may not be immediately apparent through traditional methods alone.
Her dedication to both the people involved and the investigative process has made her a valued member of the HGWI team for many years.
