HGWI Research Initiative
Building Knowledge From Every Investigation
Since 2004, Historic Ghost Watch & Investigation has helped people experiencing unexplained activity while carefully documenting investigations, environmental conditions, historical research, and reported evidence.
The HGWI Research Initiative expands that mission.
Our goal is not to prove every claim of paranormal activity. Our goal is to collect better information, document investigations consistently, and look for patterns that may help us better understand reported unexplained experiences.
Every investigation becomes part of something larger.
Why Research Matters
Most paranormal investigations focus on a single location, family, or event. That work is important. However, when every investigation is documented differently, valuable information can be lost.
By using standardized investigation logs, environmental records, evidence notes, and historical research, HGWI hopes to build a long-term body of information that can be reviewed, compared, and studied over time.
Research Questions:
- Are certain types of activity reported more often during specific environmental conditions?
- Do historic locations produce different reports than private homes?
- Are EVPs, visual experiences, or personal encounters more common under certain circumstances?
- Can long-term documentation reveal patterns that a single investigation cannot?
What We Document
HGWI investigations may include information such as:
Date, time, and general location
Building type and known history
Weather and environmental conditions
Moon phase and solar activity when available
Reported activity before and during the investigation
Equipment used
EVPs, photographs, video, and investigator observations
Historical research findings
Case outcome and follow-up recommendations
Privacy First
Client privacy remains one of HGWI’s highest priorities.
Private addresses, personal information, and identifying client details are not published as part of this research initiative. Data used for long-term study is generalized and reviewed with respect for the people and locations involved.
Secure Portal Access
The portals below provide secure access to HGWI resources for investigators, research partners, and clients. Each portal is designed to support a different part of the investigation and research process while keeping case information organized and secure.
HGWI Investigator Portal
Access investigation forms, field documentation, evidence submission, historical research, and other internal investigation resources.
Research Partner Portal (Coming Soon)
For approved investigation teams participating in the HGWI Research Initiative and contributing standardized investigation data.
Client Portal (Coming Soon)
Access investigation updates, activity logs, case documents, and other resources related to your investigation.
Together, these portals create a secure, organized workspace that supports investigations, collaboration, and long-term paranormal research.

The Future of Paranormal Research
The HGWI Research Initiative is designed to grow over time.
As more investigations are documented, the information may help us better understand patterns, improve our methods, train investigators, and contribute to a more serious study of reported paranormal activity.
Our long-term vision extends beyond HGWI.
We hope to one day invite other investigation teams to contribute standardized, anonymous investigation data using the same documentation methods. By working together, independent investigators across the country can help build one of the most comprehensive standardized collections of paranormal investigation data ever assembled.
No single investigation can answer every question.
No single team can document every experience.
But together, we can build something none of us could create alone.
HGWI will always begin with people.
And through careful documentation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to research, every investigation can help us better understand the unexplained.

Investigating the Unexplained.
Preserving History.
Helping People.
